Can’t I Just Send My Spam to You?

I haven’t emptied my email trash in a few days and noticed a bunch of spam that had been automatically deleted. Out of a random sampling of 100 of the dreaded spam messages, here’s how they fell into various categories and the quantity of emails received within each category:

  • 16 - Make money at home / own your own business
  • 16 - Play our lottery / enter our contest
  • 15 - Dietary supplements / weight-loss pills / health products
  • 9 - Various forms of pornography
  • 8 - Lower your mortgage rates / consolidate your debt
  • 8 - Low-cost insurance
  • 5 - Buy our software
  • 4 - Save on inkjet or printer cartridges
  • 4 - Online dating services
  • 3 - Register a domain name
  • 3 - Bulk e-mailing service
  • 2 - Earn a degree at home
  • 2 - Credit card offer
  • 2 - Build more traffic to your website / search engine listings
  • 1 - Purchase Viagra online
  • 1 - Computer monitoring software
  • 1 - Buy cheap DVDs

Sheesh! You’d guess by judging the spam I receive that I’m someone who wants to own his own business and make lots of money, needs to live a healthier life and lose some weight, has way too much personal debt, pays too much for insurance, works with computers and especially the Internet, doesn’t have a college degree, wants to buy stuff cheap, and has a DVD player.

Oh. I guess they are pretty much on the mark, aren’t they?!

I just have no need for either Viagra or dating services, and I prefer my naked women in the flesh, so to speak. (Although I certainly appreciate photos of flawless, bare-breasted young women!)
