Time to Toot My Own Horn…
I was recently asked to provide a brief profile of my work career, something far shy of a full-fledged American resume or a traditional curriculum vitae.
If you look at my resume, you’ll see that my experience and expertise is far too broad to condense down to a single paragraph. So, instead, I’ll highlight only those areas that pertain to the direction in which I’d like to continue.
Overall, all of my past experience has shaped me into a topnotch web manager, whether I am managing corporate websites, intranets, or customer portals. While I am less schooled in traditional graphic design skills, my background in photography and photojournalism, coupled with over 12 years of programming experience, including more than six years of web-related design, gives me a tremendous leg up over traditional managers or developers in that I possess an acclaimed “eye for design”, the perfect liaison between the right-brained graphic artists and the left-brained developers. I am highly skilled in all aspects of web initiatives, from concept to design, from prototyping to development, from quality assurance to implementation. I’m hands-on and process-oriented, directing designers, working with Marketing to drive their intended messages, steering developers towards proper coding techniques for adherence to functional usability guidelines and compliance with the American Disabilities Act. I’ve gained valuable experience with human and computer interaction over years of research and development with speech recognition technologies and can apply that knowledge directly to web design techniques. Usability, functionality, design, and quality are all paramount to the success of any large-scale web-related project, and I can help you achieve that success.
How’s that sound?
