Them Old is Bilk…

Seconds after the telegram was revealed on episode 4 of the Mole II, I told the crowd in the room, “I wish I could see that telegram again!” I never was able to get a good enough copy of it, but apparently the numbers at the bottom of the telegram read “843 665347 0024 5500″. If you stick those numbers into a program that generates letters based on the telephone touch pad, omitting the zeros of course, you get the following interesting possibilities:

  • TIE NO KEGS RAIL 5 - The excursion to the pub while waiting for the train?
  • THE NO LEG SAIL 5 - Anyone missing a leg?
  • THEM OK FIR BILL - Well, I’m ok fir bill, too.
  • THEN OK DIP A ILL - Dorothy got sick running up a dip, right?
  • TIE MOLD IRA ILL - Has the Irish Republic Army made an appearance yet? Sean?
  • THE MOLE IS BILL - Naaaah. Makes too much sense. *grin*
  • THEM OLD IS BILK…

What a minute! “Them old is bilk”?! The noun bilk means one who cheats. A clue, perhaps? Someone who’s old? Aw, forget it! I’m probably way off here. Not like this is new news, anyway!

Considering that the finale of Mole II aired more than five years ago, I think it’s safe to close off comments for this page. What do you think?
