2002 Vacation, Part III…
Revisited Epcot today, primarily to finish up our international culinary feast. We started at the opposite end this time, Mexico first. Kim had the combination plate: a quesadilla, beef burrito, and a chicken soft taco. Sterling also had a beef burrito. Everyone else had nachos, quite possibly the worst I’ve ever had. Very disappointing. Norway was next, and we shared a lefske (a tortilla wrapped with butter, sugar, and cinnamon) and a sweet pretzel with almonds. Skipping over to Italy, we had various flavors of gelati. At the next stop, there was some discrepancy whether or not the previously consumed tangerine smoothies qualified as Japanese, so we ate some miso soup and green tea ice cream to cover our bases.
Once again, we passed on eating anything in the USA, and headed for our last untasted land, Canada. That was actually the most difficult land to find something in. We were just about at the point where we were going to have to choose between some rather nasty-looking jelly beans and chugging down some maple syrup when I happened to spy a booth offering beavertails, which are apparently a thin, fried, beaver-tail-shaped dough sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Yea, all done!
In defense of Magic Kingdom, our second stop of the day, I have to admit that the Splash Mountain, Jungle Cruise, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad rides are better than the original counterparts in Disneyland, all rides we had to skip during our visit last week. I still prefer the California version of the park, however. Nothing compares to the Main Street Electrical Parade.
Only two full days left. I’m enjoying the vacation, but miss simple pleasures such as my bed, DSL, lack of high humidity, Friday night get-togethers, my cats, my friends, and barbequing. And, anyone tape the Mole II finale?! I think I missed it. If I didn’t, then I don’t remember a thing…
Oooh, prolific today, wasn’t I?!
Don’t they have the Electrical parade at DisneyWorld too?
If they do, it’s not on while we’re here. I think it’s exclusive to Disneyland, but it could be a result of the 100 Years of Disney celebration.
Mole II hasn’t finalized yet. In week 1 of your absence Al was executed. And last week Bill, Heather and Dorothy played the final two games: the same Three Questions game as last year and a grueling cross-country foot race where they each followed a GPS signal from different starting points. Very Blair Witch for Heather. Anyway, it ended with them taking the quiz and a promo for next week when all 14 are gathered together Survivor-like for the big revelations.
