I Still Hate Insurance…
How long has it been now? Two weeks? Three weeks? A month?
I finally got a call from the insurance broker, a result of an email I left her requesting the status of our application.
Her response? Blue Cross is still waiting for the medical facilities to forward copies of the medical charts in their possession, keeping in mind, of course, that this is the same insurance company and the same type of plan I had previously. Which means that they already have all of the information they’re looking for.
The clincher? The delay is due to Blue Cross’ insistence that they be provided with the records, combined with the unfortunate fact that the hospital has now admitted that they’ve lost the records.
I hate insurance companies.
Got a call last night. It was just after 7:00, so maybe it didn’t count as “during the dinner hour” (although it should in our house). But what’s wrong with calling during normal business hours? Anyway, it was some medical provider asking to be paid. “Happy to pay you.” says my wife. “Been ready to pay you for quite some time. Was only waiting for an invoice.” says she. “It arrived 2 days ago and I’ll send a check off shortly.” she explains. (Actually, an amazingly restrained conversation for my wife.) Now this was for a procedure that occurred in APRIL. It took them six months to send us a bill. And now they call during dinner and demand that we use an credit card to pay right then and there? No. I don’t think so.
