I’ve had my financial hat on for the last couple of days, entering in data into Quicken and QuickBooks in preparation for the annual festival known as Tax Season — kind of like Wabbit Season, just without the cute cartoon characters, and with a lot more Excedrin Migraine. When you let things go without reconciling them for six months it’s amazing how tall the pile grows!
Anyway, I was running some reports and noticed that a few of the retailers had alternate wordings (for example; Chevy’s, Chevy’s Restaurant, Chevy’s Mexican Restaurant) so I went through the list and normalized it. What was interesting was being reminded of all the failed and failing businesses that I once patronized: BabyCenter, Beyond.com, Burger Pit (only one restaurant left), Crown Books (still in the dying throes of bankruptcy), eToys, Mercata, Montgomery Wards, Pets.com, Service Merchandise, and Webvan to name just a few.
Let’s bow our heads in a moment of silence to remember those lost to the economic woes of the last decade…
Not to mention seeing Zoho on the debit side of the ledger!
