Double-O Driver…

I went to see Die Another Day yesterday with Sean. Afterwards, when I dropped him off at work, he warned me to be careful and not let the movie’s adrenaline rush turn me into a Double-O driver.

It felt a bit strange, I admit.

Yesterday, I had contact with an FBI Special Agent and a Director at the California state government’s office. The first thing I see when I get back into my car after dropping Sean off is a small screen blinking “Tracking Satellites…” I’ve got digital this in my car, digital that. And what do I do right after the movie? Head to a company in the high-tech Silicon Valley, directed by satellite directly to a pre-arranged drop-off of the contents of an ammo case, pick it up, transport it back to my vehicle, take what I came for, and re-deposit it for the next pickup.

Sounds so clandestine, doesn’t it? It’s not; it’s just an ordinary activity that 40,000 people do tens of thousands of times every day. Yet half an hour after a Bond movie, it just feels, well, different…
