I Love and Hate Empire Earth…
Man, Empire Earth cheats!
I played a long game today, a stress-relief from life’s rigors. Seven teamed-up hard computers on large islands on a medium-size map, all against me, starting in Prehistoric and ending in Imperial, my favorite configuration. Reasonably challenging, yet a victorious outcome is always certain.
Now, I already knew the computers cheat on a regular basis, so I put them to the test: After I leisurely and completely wiped out six of the computer players in about five hours, I destroyed all but a town center, two houses, and a hospital of the seventh. I made sure all my 50-plus citizens were mining fully all the gold, iron, stone and food they could muster, and completely upgraded the six nearby town centers by filling them with 50 citizens in order to receive the most bonuses. Then I went out for the evening, leaving the game to its own devices. Three hours later, I let my one remaining bombard destroy the seventh computer’s town center, winning the game.
Looking at the stats after the eight hours had elapsed, the first computer was wiped out after about two hours. It never had more than 39 citizens, yet mined almost as much food as I did, gathered 25% more wood, 50% more gold, and about 10% more stone and iron than I did in the full eight hours! The other computers also had statistics that showed that they gathered more than I in all resource categories. Not fair!
Insult upon injury…
As I switched back and forth between Empire Earth and my text editor, Empire Earth crashed. I lost my game, my resultant stats, and the opportunity for some screen shots showing the incredible cheating tendencies of Empire Earth…
I wonder if denying my fact gathering was one final cheat…
good game to play
