Email to Amazon…

I fired this off today:

I recently ordered a new Canon PowerShot G3 digital camera and received a used one instead. When I first opened the package I could tell that the packaging was not in mint condition, the plastic around the user manuals had been removed, and I am not certain that all cables were included in the package. Also, when I checked my first set of downloaded pictures, the internal counter showed that at least 440 pictures had previously been taken before it even reached my hands. Please either arrange to provide me with a new, never-opened camera, or refund a substantial amount from the purchase price to reflect the item’s used status. To have been an Amazon customer as long as I have and to receive secondhand products at new prices is both alarming and disappointing. And probably illegal. I eagerly await your response…

I’ve never seen such a crazy/complicated way to get a return processed. I won’t be ordering this way again. I got the items I ordered but need to return one of them. My order id # is 002-5514694-3821607. Thanks!

This certainly WOULD BE a crazy/complicated way to get a return processed! My suggestion would be to actually contact AMAZON — not me!! You will probably get better results that way. By the way, the gifts seem like cool choices for the kids, except for the Marching Band Kit. That’s just mean! Can’t you think of the parents’ agony?! - RDL

Yesterday I received a package from Amazon for my son in Iraq. One CD ‘Trojan Skinhead Reggae’ box set had to be copied before shipping it off to Ramadi. Disc two popped up with a message saying ‘unknown unexpected error’ so I could not proceed with copying. May I return this box set for replacement? Please tell me how to proceed. Surely puts a dent in his $55.00 less income tax hazard pay! Order ID 002-7384972-2984005

I’m sure you can probably return the defective CD, but you might want to actually ask Amazon, not me! How’s that History of Ska from 1960-1966 that you ordered, too? Looks interesting! I would refrain from pirating copies of CDs in the future, however :-)

Since Amazon responded to my complaint, I’m closing this off from more comments. If you have something to add, click over to the response and read it before adding your own comment. Thanks!
