Dishonest Political Candidates? continued…

I received this response to my recent email, another episode in the continuing saga of my dealings with an ex-client:

I am sorry that you feel this way. I have been asking for months for you to call me to discuss your contract, and you have chosen not to do so. Thank you for the information on what you were working on while here. I have used that information to amend the original contract that I provided to you for signature in August. As I have explained, I would like to pay you but cannot do so without a signed contract.

My ex-client seems to start every email with “I am sorry that you feel this way” and yet continues to provide no remedy to the situation. My reply:

As usual you have shifted focus, not responding to my requests or comments.

In answer to your statement below, as I have already mentioned several times, I have chosen not to speak with you on the phone because your spoken word is demonstrably untrustworthy. I have chosen instead to rely on written correspondence. Business is performed [all over the world] 24 hours a day without correspondence via phone or in person, and I am fairly sure that you are capable enough to send a contract by email, fax, or mail.

For months I have been asking you to send me a corrected contract which you have so far refused to do — odd, because it is your own requirement to have a signed contract before you will pay me for work I have already performed under both a verbal contract and an implied contract, a condition applied only after I had already resigned because of your nonpayment for services rendered. You owe me [$$$$$] for nine weeks worth of part-time work performed at the paltry, previously agreed-upon rate of [$$$$] per week.

Since you now admit having prepared a new contract, and you have still not provided me with a copy of it for review, please send it as soon as possible so that it can be signed by both parties. You have my contact information.

The payment deadline I gave of January 17, 2004, is unwavering. Make sure payment has arrived here by that time — signed contract or not.

For someone supposedly pro-labor, I am surprised by your unjust treatment of your own labor force. It would be a shame if I had to tie you up in court the week before election day…

I’m tired of people trying to screw me over! Hey morons, DON’T FÙÇK WITH ME ANYMORE! The year 2004 signals the end of the doormat that was once Richard!

On a lighter and better note, Santana Row finally paid me the full amount they owe me today. Four months late, but they were more than willing to pay the entire invoice, plus interest at 18% as a late fee after I got through with them!!
