I’m a Googlewhacker…

I tried Googlewhacking today. Sounds a bit kinky, doesn’t it?

Thanks to my bestest buddy who sends me weird and funny emails all the time (unlike ol’ boring bonehead me!), I know now what Googlewhacking is.

Go to Google. Search for any two words, but not words surrounded by quotes. If you get only one website in Google’s response, you’ve just whacked Google! There are a few other rules, but that’s close enough.

My tries (and their results):

  • philodendrons hippopotamus (3)
  • discombobulating pendulums (1) — But it’s on a web page that just lists weird words; against the rules. ÐÃMN!
  • maples psychoanalyzed (3)
  • philodendron báštárdìzátìøn (1) WOOHOO! Got one!!
  • puerilism psychoanalyzed (1) — Another word list page.
  • puerilis psychoanalyze (1) — Yet another word list page.
  • oligopsony pygmy (1) GOT ANOTHER ONE!
  • hyperventilating ectoparasites (5)
  • mnemotechnical nematode (1) Ðámn word lists!
  • transmuted lingonberries (1) WOOHOO! YEAH, BABY!
  • ogled rhinoceroses (3)
  • spheno-occipital vestiges (3) Won’t take hyphenated words. Phooey!
  • cockatrice gerbils (5)
  • cockatrice suckles (5)
  • occipital spumavirus (4)
  • whippoorwill tumulus (3)
  • pickled dodecahedrons (2)
  • whacking dodecahedrons (1) I AM THE MAN!!

Despite how easy I made it look, it’s a lot harder than you might think!

Seconds, man, seconds…

Listing them here would actually make the THIRD page containing the googlewhack. ALL googlewhacks get listed as googlewhack.com. So unless you keep it to yourself and don’t tell anyone about it, finding a googlewhack makes it no longer a googlewhack! The real trick, I suppose, would be to list a googlewhack at googlewhack which didn’t previously exist. That is, the googlewhack site itself is the only page where the word pair occurs.
