I Suck at Making Desserts…
Last night was a Survivor evening. Sometimes, when in the mood, I make dishes similar to, reminiscent of, or representative of the previous week’s food eaten on the show. Rice is common.
In commemoration of St. Patrick’s Day and last week’s reward of a barbecue and dessert buffet aboard a multi-million-dollar yacht, I made desserts.
I made really sucky desserts. Well, I made desserts that were intended to be good, but turned out sucky.
First on the menu was Irish Potato Candy. It turned out exactly the way it was supposed to, but the audience didn’t care for it. Numerous folks complained that it had too much cinnamon. I have no idea how to roll something in cinnamon that is supposed to be fully coated with cinnamon, yet somehow still use less.
Second, was a Guinness Cake. Could have been good, but I followed the directions that said bake at 325 degrees for two hours. I thought it seemed long, but I did it anyway. Turned out dry and way overcooked. Yuck. Threw it away after eating less than a quarter of it.
Third, Irish Whiskey and Ginger Cream. Sounded great. After two failed attempts, I tossed it down the drain.
Fourth, Apple Barley Pudding. I ate some. Didn’t serve it to anyone.
I think I’ll stick with main dishes…
