Vacation 2004: Day Four…
After a hellish ride that should have only taken two hours, filled with multiple potty breaks, endless are-we-there-yets, and a trip once again to Mc-God-I’m-Sick-Of-This-Place-Donalds, we arrived in Washington DC three hours after the journey began.
The afternoon consisted of a driveby of the Pentagon and visits to the White House, the Washington Monument, the Vietnam War Memorial, the reflecting pool, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War memorial, the World War Memorial, and an incomplete visit to the World War II Memorial before we had to move our car for the weekday afternoon commute. The highlight, for me anyway, was weathering out a brief torrent in the shelter of the Lincoln Memorial, the rains so heavy at one point that the Washington Monument was eclipsed.
The night was spent in Maryland, another notch on the list of states in which I’ve been.
