24 Hours Remaining…

I know I sounded something like a madman three years ago when I stated that I liked paying taxes. Granted, it’s not actually the process of writing checks that I like; it’s the bit about doing my part for the community at large.

This year, however, I hated doing the taxes. That’s despite the fact that we’re getting a refund this time. The biggest problem was that due to timing issues I had to wait until this, the last few days to file. Being sick for the past week hasn’t helped either.

I don’t like waiting until the last minute to finalize the tax season, and I can’t understand why many people wait until the last possible minute to even begin the process. Because I started doing taxes last November, I learned about the option of taking the amount of sales tax paid during the year as a deduction instead of the amount of state income tax paid. That alone increased our refund by at least $500. It shouldn’t bother me that most people pay more in taxes than they have to, even if they engage the services of a tax “professional”, but for some reason it does.

Worse still, are cheaters. I’ve never cheated on my taxes, and I look down upon those who do. Do me a favor; keep it honest.

Hey Richard, Very random, but I found your “goals” site while searching for private pilots license information. Anyways, I saw that map that you had on your page with the countries you had traveled to highlighted. How did you get that? Just wanted to tell you I really liked your goals page. If you do all that, you couldn’t ask for anything else! Have fun, Dave
