HP: Book Seven Predictions…

According to CNN, J.K. Rowling indicated that two unexpected characters will die in the last installment of her Harry Potter series, and she hinted Harry Potter might not survive either. She said, “A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don’t target extras do they? They go for the main characters,” adding, “I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks ‘Well, I’m going to kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels … so it will end with me, and after I’m dead and gone they won’t be able to bring back the character’.”

I’m still not sure whether or not I wish to recant earlier observations on Dumbledore’s death and Snape’s true alliance, but it doesn’t look good for Harry. So, of the other “main characters”, who is most likely to die? And does that include good and bad? Of the main characters, the most likely candidates are Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, and Draco. Going down the ladder a bit could include Neville, Fred, George, Ginny, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Lucius, Percy, Snape, and McGonagall. I expect Voldemort will die, but she also stated that the two characters who will die were not previously on the chopping block. I think either Ron or Hermione will die, preferring Ron but thinking that Hermione’s demise will be more of an emotional impact. I also think either Hagrid or Draco will die, preferring Draco but thinking Hagrid for the same emotional reason.

The last word of the seventh novel is rumored by Rowling herself to be “scar”. If she keeps Harry around (even though that might be now unlikely thanks to her mention of killing off characters to prevent sequels) and the last word is intended for a scene in which Harry ruminates on his scar or its new-found absence after disposing of Voldemort, then I find it likely that both Ron and Hermione will be written out.

My predictions, right or wrong:

  • Draco will join forces with Voldemort, but will eventually wimp out.
  • Percy, not really one of the main characters, will die — probably after redemption.
  • Snape will die trying to help Harry and betraying Voldemort at the last moment.
  • Bellatrix will die in some twisted vengeful attempt at something sinister.
  • Lucius will die early on, causing conflict for Malfoy.
  • Ron and Hermione will finally establish a closer bond.
  • Harry will go back to Hogwarts, not necessarily at the beginning of term.
  • McGonagall will become school headmistress.
  • We will be introduced to Regulus Black, Sirius’ long-lost brother.
  • Aunt Petunia will do something unusual, something heroic perhaps, to save Harry.
  • Fawkes will attach himself to Harry now that Dumbledore is “gone”.
  • Harry will find all the Horcruxes and destroy Voldemort with help from unlikely characters.

Heavily looking forward to the next installment!

    So when’s it coming out?

When asked on the lawns of Buckingham Palace last Sunday when the book would be ready for publication, Rowling replied, “I’m doing well I think. You can never really tell till you get near the end. I am not quite there yet.” So, who knows?! By the way, I forgot to mention that a character who had been previously slated to die in the book was given a reprieve by the author for unstated reasons…

You forgot to mention that Harry and Ginny will get together in your prediction. Even if Harry dies at the end. I also think that Moody might be one of the sub characters to die. Rowling said that 2 main characters would die, but did not mention how many sub characters would bite it too.

If Harry lives, do you think he becomes the Auror he wants to be or the long sought after permanent Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts?

Not sure if I actually forgot about Harry and Ginny since I’m still on the fence about them, but there is a strong likelihood that they will indeed get together. Good question about Harry’s possible professions. I suppose being the DADA teacher might be a happier, more comfortable and familiar ending than being an auror. It depends on what Rowling wants to do with the series later, I suppose, if anything. If the series is left open to continue, then either profession is possible. If the series is to be abandoned, then Harry being made a teacher is more likely…

I think that the quest for horcruxes could become Harry’s life-work :). As for 7′th book I don’t believe Snape is on the dark side. suppose Harry ans Snape should overcome their hatres to each other finally. They have got the common cause and in fact don’t know each other.

    good predictions… but i think i have some ideas…

    1. Snape WILL die in the 7th book to the Unbreakable Vow, but that doesn’t mean he’s good, i mean he could die by not protecting Malfoy during battles, missions etc. but i still think he’s good. But who knows:JK Rowling

    2. Percy will not die, he will probably apologize to his family after the WAR for being a smart ášš.

    3. Hermione nor Ron will die, Hermione will use her brains to the test and triumph. and Ron will help Harry all the way since book#1.

    4. Obviously Petunia will Tell something to Harry (during nighttime while Dudley and Vernon are sleeping) before he leaves Privet Drive. she has a strong secret i bet about Lily.

    5. dumbledore will not come back, if he’s gone, he’s gone

6.RAB is probably not Regulus, JKR would probably expect that kind of answer. maybe it’s Rookwood from book #5

    7. Malfoy is good, because he almost dropped his wand in book #6, which he means he almost surrendered…not sure though.

8 Muggles and Wizards will fight in the war.on both sides.
    well that’s i think,

but one problem still hits me…

WHO IS STRONGER: Snape(Occlumens) or Voldemort(Leglimens)?

Well, I thing that Hagrid will die. I was right about D. Deing before book 6 came out.
However I do thing that H., R., and Hr. will all survive.
R., and Hr., will get together; Ginny and Harry will also get together.

Snape, well not sure. He sertainly hates Harry, but does he hate him enough to join Death Eaters again or maybe he never left

Well who knows, I guess we’ll have to waite till July 21st.
