Super Bowl Soldering…

A 595 boardInstead of watching the Stupid Bowl and downing Budweisers like the rest of America, I spent some quality time with a soldering iron, a spool of carcinogenic high-tech rosin-core, and a cardboard box full of tiny electronic parts.

One of my many unfinished projects is building some 64-port controller boards with the idea that someday a spare computer will control a huge Christmas light display. Over 2,000 tiny blobs of solder later, I completed one such board from start to finish (590 solders) and was able to get quite a bit done of the remaining five boards (288 solders on each). I’m looking forward to buying and ripping apart a parallel cable so I can actually test it.

I have way too many hobbies…

Nice re-design. I like it much better than the Hallowe’en motif. (And Sean’s Mom would like the larger font.)

Miss the “Recently Commented” section tho….

Just haven’t finished adding it back yet. Lots of older features still have to be migrated over. And I’m having CSS issues with IE6 which I’m also trying to resolve…
