Warcraft Video: Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With That!
Inspired by my friend Equinox’s newly acquired X-52 Rocket Helmet and the thought of filming the out-of-fuel crashing descent, I quickly tied the idea to the Discovery Channel’s recent promo during an episode of Deadliest Catch. Once I heard the entire song (with its frequent dancing references) I quickly decided to mimic the original creators with my own WoW version. The original song (Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With That!) by Robert Randolph & The Family Band was highly edited by the Discovery Channel video team, and I couldn’t find just the right cartoony falling noise I was looking for. Once I stumbled upon a good rocket sound, I reversed the idea and started with the ascent. The rest is history.
This is the first video project I’ve done that took longer than a single afternoon to create; the rapid-fire edits took a while to time perfectly, and Joon took a severe turn for the worse due to her kidney disease and had to be put down. The dedication footage at the end of the video was taken only two hours before her final trip to the vet; an indoor-only cat, Joon spent her last day exploring the curiosities of our backyard — a “last-meal” equivalent freedom. If you watch carefully, you can see her back legs stumble a couple times while walking toward me, signs of her struggle to combat her overwhelming weakness. The decision to end her pain was right and well timed, but she will be missed.
